Motion Sensors

A motion sensor or detector is an important part of your home security system because it is one of the main ways you can detect if someone is trying to enter your home. Motion sensors will use waves or pulses to detect movement in your space. That in turn will trigger the alarm.

Motion sensors are typically used with security alarm systems or to monitor occupancy.   However there are special occupancy sensors designed for occupancy that are more sensitive to detect small motion.

Motion sensors or detectors are available in either PIR (passive infrared), Microwave or Dual Technology (PIR and Microwave). Standard PIR motion sensors are typically used in residential and small business applications.  Microwave or dual tech sensors are ideally suited for high security areas or in areas that might normally trigger false alarms.
